Community Support Sought for Cyp Diaper Bank, Drop-Off Bins Available Throughout Dare County

When a baby is born, diapers are a basic necessity. But for many families, affording them can be a challenge. On average, diapers cost nearly $80 per month per child, and yet they cannot be purchased using WIC or SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps).

12 Bars of Christmas Gears up for 2025 — Supporting 12 Local Charities!

The 12 Bars of Christmas is back in planning mode for 2025, and all 12 themed pop‑up bars have re‑committed to donating passport proceeds to a local Outer Banks charity. Last year’s event raised and distributed over $35,000 this spring through nonprofit partner Outer Banks Community Foundation.
 
 
Participating bars and their beneficiary charities include:
  • Jingle 12 Tavern – OBX Room in the Inn
  • Jack Frost’s – Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County

It’s not often that the Outer Banks community gets to experience art and culture from Ghana, but local nonprofits the Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Series and Dare Arts worked together to host a lively 10-day residency with Saakumu Dance Troupe in May.

Children & Youth Partnership’s 16th annual KidsFest will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo from 9:30am – 12:30pm. Children, parents, grandparents and child care programs are invited to participate in a morning of fun, music, games, crafts, exploration, and play activities, all for FREE.
